got a call from this number ,said they are a fraud investigation company, and they had my s.s number and where i bank at ect. and that i owe money to a online company called cash advance net work and if i do not pay they will call where i live and have me go to curt and put in jail. how did the get my information? it was two ladys and i ask them to send me something to show that i owe this money and to tell me where they was calling from and the only thing said was that they are with the company called total investigation inc.i tried to find out if this is a real company and can not find anything under that name or that number,if anyone know anything about this number or company please let me know.

I received a call from this number ( North Carolina - 704-469-2492 ). They left a message on my answering machine on July 25, 2012. A woman said her name was Elena Harper and she was with "Federal Investigations - Fraud Department". She said a civil case was referred to her involving someone using my name, personal information, and social security number. She gave me a "case number" to refer to. Oh. brother, what a phoney baloney - when are these idiots going to call it a day and get legitimate employment?
No way am I calling them- I know darn well the first thing they are going to want is my Social Security Number, followed by Bank Account Numbers, and Credit Card Numbers, All these scam artists are the same- they act so-o-o-o "Official"....WARNING to everyone: if they were legitimate and knew so much about you, you would receive a registered,certified letter, not a stupid phone call - they also would be very very specific - and not give you a load of general, oh-so-scary "information".
I got the same call. They will not give me their address!!!! Said the exact same thing to us only second message said they would put out a restraining order or something like that. I cannot believe companies get away with this. I hope no one falls for this. This lady was so rude to me. I called back several times to try and get her address and she just hung up on me.
I received the pretty much the same call from the same lady as leo in tampa. She even called my mother in law but sadly my mother law just cussed her out and not call again. As stated by FTC, if they cannot verify who they really are and send you something in writing in regards to the matter then they are not legit. It's a scam hands down. A debt from years ago that another company bought from another company for a penny on the dollar. Never pay those for then they will have every excuse to continue to hound you. Just an FYI!
