There alot of scams going around from 'debt agencies" that are illegal.
Do not pay anything over the phone no matter what. Tell them they must send you a letter. Make sure its not a email or a post card.
Also they must give you their company name and address if you ask for it.
Do not let them threaten or push you around. Contact a atty . Infact contact the GA atty gen office and let them know what is going on.
folks from Dofinvestigations keep calling, they tracked down my divorced father somehow. Anyhow, demanding payment for some loan, they have alot of my banking information etc from prior online loans (yea big mistake), anyway..keep calling me, my mother, father etc. Have threatened me with warrant for arrest. Now, a Sheriff Deputy Williams called me from the Rutherford county sherrifs Tn, said I needed to call them back and clear this up. I called the sheriffs department, they said no one from there would have called me. He said he would be by to pick me up in 2-4 hours, did I have someone to take care of all my affairs. etc. When I tried the dofinvestigations.com, webpage was suspended, later I pulled it up, a one pager, with little info. The domain is registered with Godaddy, priv. company etc..no info besides registered in 2013. But the same Tonya Strickland was given as the case manager to me by the Sheriff...all sounds like bogus crap, same thing has been hitting my ex roommate all month, after he applied for some online loans. Once they get all that information, they want to record a call giving them permission to autodraft the account, or try for a CC over the phone, they will not provide any documentation until after the payment is processed. the company is in Atlanta Ga, Department of Fraud Investigations. ONline debt wouldn't be subject to a warrant to the best of my knowledge, even if valid, it's civil, which means they could pursue court, garnishment etc..but not arrest.

Just got a similar call, but these people called my job asking for my supervisor and human resources threatening to have me arrested at work. It was a lady by the name of Tonya Strickland who said I had one hour to call them at 866-654-2233 or she would sign off on the docket to have me arrested at work. I called the court house and they told me that the docket number is not valid and they did a search of my name and said I had no warrants or anything pending against me that they could see.
