Thanks to Heather for the preceding post! We also got a call from this number today, though we did not answer and no message was left. A couple of other web sites also show recent receipt of calls from this number claiming there was a problem on their windows computer.
HOW TO STOP THEIR CALLS IN LAST SENTENCE. Caller alleges he is from Microsoft which is a SCAM, he says there is a problem with a program on your computer they need to check. They then embed a worm that gives them access to not just any web site you visit to include log in, but also anything on your system. They can use the worm to actually take control of your computer to use your IP address to transact business from withdrawals, transfer to even purchases. If you have a Microsoft Service plan of course they can spend hours getting rid of the rootkits and worms, but even they recommend to total reformat to be sure it is gone. The number is actually being used overseas and not in the US. Tell them you are recording the call for the Attorney General and need their name, employee number, business address, business phone and fax number as well as who to contact for the Attorney General and Microsoft Fraud Division. They will hang up and remove your number.
