keeps calling but hangs up before i answer. calls my cell phone.... finally i just decided to call it back and it was a recording that said that i could leave my number and someone would call back regarding the "charity" that they were calling on behalf of.....
really.... seriously??? no thank you!!!
but then the more i thought about it then the madder that i became because this doesn't even tell you what [***] [***] charity is calling and therefore the people that are donating money to it are actually getting screwed out of even more money and even more heinous, the people that could use the money that the charity is raising are not getting it because they are paying an outsourcing center to make these calls that cost money....
but then this is more than likely a freaking scam in the first place so any money that is raised doesn't actually go to any charity or only a very small percent.....
maybe i am just jaded.
my rule of thumb is do not give over the phone, that includes confirming name, address, etc.... never give credit card over the phone to anyone that I, myself, have not called and even then i still don't do that! unless it with a manager/supervisor and even then i get name and as much information as possible and i demand receipts via email or some sort of confirmation as i am on the phone and i will not hang up until i get it...
as for giving to charity, which i do and do often.... i research them to know what the percentage per dollar that goes to the charity versus the admin cost....
