The guy called my business and asked to speak to the owner. I told him not interested and hung up. He called back about 30 seconds later and asked "I want to know why you hung up on me, Is this the way you treat all of your customers" I told him if he were a true customer he would know the name of the owner, that he was trying to sell something and I was not interested. I hung up again. I then called Clear Creek at 877-897-5786 and asked the girl answering the phone "can I speak to the owner please" she was quiet and told me the owner was not in and I could talk to the assistant, after being on hold for a bit she came back and said the assistant was busy and the manager was in a meeting did I want to leave a voice mail? I told he no, I will call back every 5 minutes and ask for the owner like your rude telemarketers do me. She apologized and offered to put me on the do not call list. I told her if they called me again I will call her every 5 minutes every day and she would be sick of my voice. I am tired of telemarketers harassing my business while trying to help customers...I decided don't get mad get even.
They said they were calling from the IRS and I owed taxes. Ummm.... no, the IRS owes me taxes because I moved and didn't get my check, so have re-ordered my check. I asked... "if you are IRS, why are you calling from area code 704?" Woman said, well we have satellite offices all over the country. She said there is a lien against me and, considering the bad economy, I could set up an installment arrangement. What? I don't own anybody a nickel... nobody. When I reiterated that I do not owe taxes - the IRS owes ME a refund, she said I need to call my "County Clerk." I asked... "what does County Clerk" have to do with IRS? She hung up.
Represented himself as from Clear Creek (www.clearcreektax.com -- I found their website), said I have "serious tax liability from 2013" and tried to get me to verify personal information. I promptly reported this number to the IRS. You can do the same at: www.tigta.gov. AVOID THESE SCAMMERS AND REPORT THEM!!!!
