Is this a new type of scam? A delivery notice sticker on the front door, marked final attempt (when you haven't ordered anything). With this phone number at the bottom. When I called the number I think it said ' you have reached the offices of Tom Coil... please leave a message.'
No, it has been used before. Some attempt to get you to call them, but what the exact scam is will be unknown until you call and ask them unfortunately. It could be a debt collector scam or a package delivery scam, or some sort of mortgage scam.

Got the same thing last night. Note left on my door saying it was final delivery for a package. Called after business hours and got the same voice mail Mike B. references (of course left no voice mail not knowing what this was). He then called me this morning, i guess based on caller ID, and it turns out it's an insurance scam that they are trying to get you to OK a new roof due to hail damage in the area. Asked why they were trying to get people to call by claiming to be trying to deliver a package and he said, "well we are trying to deliver a pacakge, we're trying to give you a packet of information about your new FREE roof." Stay away.....
Yep, yellow note found on my front door as described above---called and a man answered and when I said "what the hell is this?" The guy got mad, said it was a Christian company and he would not listen to cuss -- hell!! Honestly, he has no idea what cuss is!!! Scams are getting quite fancy-- one needs to be very very careful!!
