After further research I've found that this is from Bankers Life & Casualty insurance co. This is a tactic of theirs to recruit agents-- they'll call any warm body with a resume posted online regardless of the candidate's skills or area of expertise (again: I'm a graphic artist with no sales experience or desire.) and invite them en masse to an "interview" where they basically sit all the applicants in a room together and put on this big cheerleading sales pitch about how much money you're going to make!!!
Just google "bankers life and casualty reviews" to see how well that turns out, for the employees (who apparently work for 100% commission, no base pay!) and clients alike. The whole thing stinks from top to bottom. I'm glad I hung up on them.
Man with middle-Eastern or Indian accent phoned me up and tried to hire me to sell insurance over the internet.
I have my resume posted on a few jobhunting sites as I actually am looking for a job right now. The first major clue that this has got to be some kind of scam was that he assured me I wouldn't have to relocate-- and I specifically mention in my postings that I'm looking to move to a certain specific city, not telecommute.
