Lady with horrendous english states she is calling because my Windows computer is infected with junk files and viruses. When I asked what is my OS, she states it is Microsoft Windows 8 - only issue is that allt he equipment in our home is Apple..
"Windows computer is infected with viruses that are damaging your computer! It's returning notifications to our monitoring center that show it to be bad. Allow us remote access to fix it."
When I asked her what her mom thought of her scamming, she hung up.
I told her that I do not give out my cell phone for these types of calls. I called the number back and it is forwarding to an automated phone message and no mention of Windows support.
Gentleman said his name was Steven Wilson from Technical Dept. of Windows saying that my computer has a problem. I knew he was a scam because Microsoft never calls you when there's a problem with your computer. I told him he was a fake, and he got belligerent before hanging up on me.
After reading these I'm glad I didn't answer! They didn't leave a message so too bad.
I do studies for Microsoft software so I would've told the caller off for sure.
