Called claiming to be from BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD. Left a garbled message on our home phone, complete with a tracking detail number regarding the status of some claims. When I called BLUE CROSS, I was told that their tracking numbers contain 13 digits - the one left on our answering machine contained 12 digits. The person I spoke with told me that this was most likely a scam - that they would never call regarding outstanding claims information. They would send the subscriber written communication, instead. And besides, it is impossible that we have any outstanding claims with BLUE
CROSS BLUE SHIEILD, since we are now with another insurance carrier. Go figure, but be aware and do not give these
people any personal information over the phone that might compromise your identity or put you at risk.

If you have ever had insurance with Anthem/BCBS (or worked for them), there is a one in four chance that your personal identifying information has been hacked. I heard this on the news yesterday. Not good.
