Called the number back after Tammy or Cammie left the same message as above. She would not give further information, including the case # or who the debt was owed to. She sounded like a black lady with a southern accent and I could hear other call center operators in the background. She connected me to "Agent James Hawkins" of the "Compliance Department" (Later changed to "Litigation Department"), who provided a song and dance about needing a letter, but he would not provide a physical address to send the letter. He did provide an e-mail address of
[email protected], which is not listed in WHOIS. He indicated that he was familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and that he was a pre-law student. He also refused to provide any information on the alleged debt. They did, however, locate the record for "Sally Smith", although there is no such record because that is not the name of the person they called. Report them to the FTC at FTC.Gov.
