I responded to one of these craigslist ads too but now they are using Jane Webb at an outlook email. however the English was poor and that was a tip off. they signed Rev. Adam & Jane Webb and Family
so be on the lookout.

in addition to my above post I found a business listing for Adam S Webb in Carbondale il.Says it's business services industry with 2 employees and does $110,000 annually. I wonder if it's some sort of means to launder the fraud money, does anyone know who to notify about fraud?

I did not fall prey to this scam, but my experience with Rev. Adam Webb goes like this:

I requested more information about a rental unit in Gardiner, ME from
maine.craigslist.org via email. I received an email response from a
Jane Webb and then an immediate phone call and text from a man
claiming to be her husband -- Rev. Adam Webb.

In the email, Jane wrote a long story about her relocating to
Illinois with her family and her desire to rent her home in
Gardiner, ME to someone who would take care of it. The rent quoted
was $550 a month all utilities included.

She stated that there was a realtor's sign on the lawn and instructed
me to ignore it because she had terminated her relationship with the
realtor and they had yet to remove their sign.

After a few days of correspondence, which including me taking time to
look at the place by driving by and sending a filled out renter's
application, several men calling from the same number and all
claiming to be Adam Webb, requested that I wire $1,000 to them.

They requested that I go to Walmart and transfer the money using
Moneygram. I feigned the wiring of the money and gave them, via
text, a bogus confirmation number. At that point, the ceased all
communications with me.

He is doing the same thing to me right now as we talk

They went by the names Rev. Ben and Carol Steger. He has an ad on craigslist for a house in St Louis , Mo. Said him and his wife will be in New York for 4 years doing missionary work. And that he just wanted someone to care for his house while his family is away. I told him were wouldn't be able to move until February, and he wanted me to send him the deposit so he could hold the house for us. Gave me the same story about the Realtor sign, saying to ignore it and he's no longer working with them. And he wanted to send me the keys right away.
He even wanted me to send him a family portrait. I'm glad I trusted my gut. I had an ill feeling about it. This guy is a scam artist. He even has enough nerve to quote bible verses!
