In the afternoon of 1-18-2008, I received a call from a man who asked for me by name. When I identified myself as that person, he said that he wanted to verify that my age is between ___ and ___ (a certain age group). He did not ask for any personal information or verify my mailing address. Then he said that I probably didn't even remember entering the contest; that he was calling to let me know that I was one of the finalists in the drawing, to be held the last of January 2008, for a Lincoln Navigator. He also said that if I was the winner,I would receive a letter by registered mail verifying the win. I asked if the call was a cruel joke and he said, "No, we wouldn't do that to you." I told him that I couldn't stand another cruel joke because death had just taken taken two of my family members during the holidays. He said that he would pray for me and that I should pray also. Does anyone know WHY these calls are being made and by WHOM?
I ran a search for 708-441-8077 and it is in the Chicago Heights/Chicago, IL area. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the other calls within this same prefix/suffix sequence is from the same group of people. The line is supplied by:

I recieved the same phone call saying i entered in a drawing to win a red navigator today 2-6-9. They didnt take any of my personal information but said i was a finalist in the drawing and I would recieve mail conformation if I won anything in the two weeks following 2-28-09. Smell a scam?
Greg called and told me about the Dream Card Give Away of being a finalist in a 1 to 4 prizes; 1st place Lincoln Navigator, 2nd place $2500, 3rd place 6 night - 5 day cruise, and 4th place a 32" flat screen television. He said that he wanted to confirm the information that I had "previously" given him. He then said that he wanted to verify that I had an income between 40-50,000 and asked if that was correct. I told him that I do not give out that information. He did know my first name and wanted to verify that as well.
I just got home not too long ago and there was a message on my machine from Greg saying that I had entered a Change Your Life Sweepstakes for a 2009 Lincoln Navigator. He wanted me to call him back at 1-800-577-7137 ext. 8077 within 48 hrs to claim it. I am almost positive this has to be some sort of scam or something because I haven't entered any kind of sweepstakes. I figure that they are just a waste of time. But unfortunately there is always gonna be someone out there who is gonna call the number back and end up either wasting their time or being scammed. But fortunately for me I know better.
