Said I did not win a SUV in a contest that I entered BUT I did win a tablet and a gift card if I call back an 888 number in a limited time. Is this a scam???
I would be extremely suspect of anyone who cold calls and tells you that you have "won" something--IF you call them back--especially when you know you haven't entered any contests.
Scams (of all sorts) are the rage these days, in which criminals are stopping at nothing to steal your personal identifying information and your money. Stay away from them.
Yes, another telemarketer scam. They left a message and said I didn't win an SUV but did win a tablet and I need to call back. I did, and they said I entered 3 years ago (I never did that - I never enter those things) and I wasn't eligible because I am single (I've been single for 15 years and they would have known that if I entered my info to win a prize)! I think they want to sell timeshare or resort property or something like that to married couples. You only get the prize if you listen to their sales spiel and submit to their high-pressure sales... What a scam -- as old as the hills!
