Just got this message on my cell phone: "Hi, I'm calling for Ricky. This is Megan with Bankers Life. I'd like to talk him about a career opportunity. Please call me back at 713-357-6761." I've had this cell number for at least 10 years; there ain't no Ricky here. Must be a scam. Additionally, when I searched the internet for Bankers Life, I found this interesting report at http://bankers-life-and-casualty-company.pissedconsumer.com/interview-scam-20100804192456.html in which the consumer says, "...they are blanketing job sites and cold-calling job seekers. I don't know how it is to work for them, however based on the large number of complaints, this can't be a good place to work at." Definitely a phishing expedition by some scammy operation. Avoid.
I got a call from this number and I hung up before answering because I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. After reading these comments, I have to say it was because I posted my resume on Monster.com yesterday and maybe they are getting phone number from there and various other job sites. I have had more false calls since I began looking for a job online than I ever had before.
