They call frequently using a 714 area code with an invalid prefix for that area. I don't know how they do this but it is obviously for fraudulent purposes because you can't call them back. So far, most of these calls are occurring with "land lines". If you must have a land line phone, be prepared to change your number frequently. It's too bad that the phone company can't give us "disposable" phone numbers like we can get with some e-mail accounts. We would give these disposable numbers to merchants, political hacks, and charities, etc. Then if the annoying phone calls become too numerous we can just drop that number and move to a new one without continually going through the phone company for a new one. The main or private number would be the one which we give only to trusted relatives and friends whom we know won't give it or sell it to commercial entities who will annoy us.
