I am working with a group that is testing some technology that hopefully will allow quicker and easier abilities to actually locate these callers, even if they used spoofed numbers. Knowing what they are calling about assists in the effort.
This person called but didn't leave a message on my machine but I could hear someone on the on line. This call originated from Cypress,CA but they blocked caller id. This is definitely a scam caller so block if you can and report to the FTC if you are on the No Call List using this form: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
It's not much but it is better to have these scammers on record to help catch them.
Why? Who cares who called? The fact that you don't know, is all you need to know. Do you know anyone in that City? State? Area code? Criminals prey on your curiosity and love it when you call them back.
Ummm.... not sure why you think posting info on who is calling is unhelpful. The poster said nothing about calling the number back. If someone actually spoke with the caller and could glean some info on the purpose of the call (scam or otherwise) how would that NOT be helpful???
