Scam using real OC Water District phone number. They are using an IP phone, so they will soon be snagged by a trap.
OC Water District is pissed, so they will prosecute big time.
ID says: "OC Water District"..... Call, say nothing, ignore the screener's warning, and you get blocked! All scammers and unknown, unspeaking callers get blocked forever! Good riddance!
Well, that makes four spam phone calls from various numbers in the last three hours. I never pick them up, and they just keep coming. I wonder if the cell phone providers can do something to prevent this. Getting ridiculous....
ID SCAM!!!!! Caller ID showed: (714)378-3200 "OC Water District": Call came in and I hear that old "drip" sound at the beginning of the call....1st red flag! The person on the other end of the line gives his name and says they are helping homeowners find ways to reduce their utility bills by taking advantage of government subsidy programs...I WAS interested...it sounded authentic...I asked a couple questions and he must have got nervous because he disconnected the call; I called the number back and reached a message stating that "if you got a call from the # (714)378-3200 you may have been part of an identity scam...and the the Water District didn't place the outbound call!"
Called ph #. Is an actual entity. Message said someone had hijacked their name & ph#. Since I live in Anaheim, with its own water company, I would not fall under their authority.
