Received a phone call from "Private Number," so allowed it to go to voice-mail. Message left by David Wolpert (sp?) of the Santa Ana Police Officers Association. He gave this phone number, his office hours, and "looked forward to hearing back from" me; no other message or purpose stated. My phone number has a San Diego area code, so all I can figure is that they've gotten the local business listings and are canvassing from those phone numbers. Given that November/December are prime fundraising months, this is probably a donation request.
I received a call from this number but it seemed specious. Someone had left a message saying they were with the Santa Ana Police Association and I should call them back. So I called the police department just to make sure it was legit, and they said that this is with a different organization. It is not part of the police department. They do not investigate crime.
The officer said that this organization does fundraising, and this is not an emergency call.
