The phone service has to follow laws and contend with customer needs of all kinds. Then theres that thing called "Freedom of Speech" that puts a damper on things as well and criminals don't care about any of that. We have to do our part sometimes and not expect its someone else's sole responsibility.
People working together is what makes us civilized, so lets all help each other when ever we can.
Caller didn't leave a message on my machine and the caller id said "Out of Area" which usually means telemarketer/scammer since every legitimate caller I know leaves a message. So I ran 3 reverse traces using 3 different types of traces and all were blocked for a person or business name and the only information was a general location of Anaheim, California using a service provider of 01 Communications Inc-CA which is a favorite of scammers. This is definitely a scammer that is either spoofing numbers and/or using a VoIP System to phish for personal information while running some scam. A legitimate business would never hide their identity and location from the public by blocking a trace. DON'T ANSWER AND DO NOT CALL BACK FOR ANY REASON. Block and report to the proper authorities. Phone companies should be held responsible for these types of calls since they are making money from them by providing the systems and services that these scammers use and possibly farming out numbers too.
Phone companies should not be held responsible. They are providing a service, and cannot control who does what with it. Just the same as if you bought a car and mowed down a hundred people- is the car company responsible? Just don't pick up if you HAVE AN ISSUE.
