The call I got was for "Value Air Care." Furnace inspection scam.
Can't find a company by that name with California Secretary of State, or on the Contractor's State License Board.
They claim to have a web site --
http://valueaircare.com
No address.
Somebody forgot to clean up the copy on the web site, because at one point they call themselves "Air Pro."
These people are annoying and I found out who they are: www.aircarecalifornia.com
The b%$$^%it is they will do your air ducts, furnace etc., for ONLY $39.00. GIVE THEM A PHONY ADDRESS AND TELL THE
TO HURRY RIGHT OVER. IF ENOUGH PEOPLE CALL AND WASTE THEIR TIME MAYBE THEY'LL STOP WASTING OUR TIME.
Second call from (714) 716-4298, but the first I answered. I decided to 'go along' so I could glean info for this website. The male caller ID's himself as being with "California Energy Center", and OF COURSE immediately drops references to Southern California Edison, along with energy savings programs and rebates. He says they want to give me a half-hour program on all of the available savings, blah, blah. Then the standard question about my energy usage. If I wasn't familiar with the [***] they use to get you to set-up an appointment, I'd say this guy was for real. He was good, but bottom line he's a telemarketer selling something. I was in a good mood, so instead of telling him where to shove it, I said I wasn't interested, that I'm on the Do Not Call (Big deal) List, and I'd like them to remove my name from their call list. He persisted by asking me for "feedback" on why I am saying no. I truthfully told him I have had an energy audit done, and was told I would not really qualify for any worthwhile rebates. At that he said they would remove my name. Right, I'll believe that when I see it. If they persist, I get nasty; if they continue, best defense in my experience is to BLOCK them; it won't eliminate ALL of these telemarketer (et al) calls, but will stop the ones that call you routinely (that means keeping track, obviously). I can block up to 10 numbers via my Verizon account. Beyond that, I'll need to see what my phone can do.
