Called stating they we're from the energy conservancy agency and if my electrical bill was still over $160. Told them I had no idea and hadn't checked the bill yet, and they hung up.

Asked for me by first name.  I asked who was calling and first he said he was calling about my electric bill and wanted to know if I would consider solar.  I said "I'm not interested" and before I finished my sentence he hung up on me.  He said his name was Louis. I'm on the DNC list and still get sales calls almost daily.

What everyone should know about the Federal Do Not Call List.

1.  The DNC list is NOT a call blocking service.  It is effective in reducing or eliminating calls from legitimate telemarketers - telemarketers who have registered with the FCC, and obtained the DNC list.

2.  The DNC list is NOT intended to, nor can it do the following:
-- automatically block calls.
-- stop calls from:
--- politicians
--- survey companies
--- debt collectors
--- companies with which you have a "business relationship"
--- NON registered "telemarketers" (they do not subscribe to the list, and do not care about the list)
--- telespammers, telescum, and other criminals (these people ignore the law)

3.  The DNC list is for use by private phones, not business phones

The DNC does indeed work, and is quite effective, if you consider the above statements.

If you wish more protection than that afforded by the DNC provisions, obtain a call blocker device, phone or app.  Google is your friend.

Telemarketer from some solar company called.    I rent in an 8 unit apartment complex. I made an appointment to frustrate them like they do me.  I am sure its just a lead generator and the real company will double check my address before driving over but I hope not.
