I got a mattress set for sale and I've gotten the same exact replies as everyone else.they got a cashiers check and will pick up once the check clears.this happened twice.its a scam cause they don't reply back!!!
I too had some furniture listed on CL. Said he would pay by full price with additional for movers via cashier's check and he would be glad to wait until it cleared. I called my bank and they said cashier's checks can now be fraudulently created. Of course that is what I expected. Here was my text reply to him (never heard back from him). BTW I hope you notice my sarcasm in the text.
Kyle - I talked to my bank. They indicated that cashiers checks can be forged and they suggested I not go that route. They are not saying you would do that but others have which just hurts the honest folks like you.
We have two options.
1. If you bank with the same bank that I do you can transfer $$ from yours to mine with just a telephone call. They will not give you my account # but you would send it to the bank, tell them my name and they would see that the money is put in my account.
2. You can send the cashiers check to your moving company. They can then bring the cash directly to me and pick up the item.
