I get calls from this number all the time (twice so far today).  I don't know what their purpose is because they don't leave a message or anything.  Do they just like hearing my voice?  I doubt it.

Received dozens of calls from this number until I got Caller Block with my new Panasonic answering machine.  It is from Greystone Alliance - a collection agency looking for someone with my same last name who I don't know but who
has been using my name as a credit reference for years....one bad dude!

So, I get this call from this number at my new/current job.  I politely asked them how they got the number and they said it was listed as a primary contact number.  Funny, I didn't recall ever listing that number anywhere.  I also told them I had no account with Bank of Delaware and they said it was probably from an old Tribute account.  What's even more interesting is that account was back in 2006, which means the statutes of limitation on that credit card account has long since expired.  I politely told them that because the statutes of limitations on that account has expired (now seven years), I asked them to never call me again and I hung up the phone.  Had I discussed any kind of payment plan, that would have started the mess up with them again.  And last I heard the issuers of Tribute were involved in a class action lawsuit because of their unfair practices with the interest rates they were charging.  They were not in compliance and therefore were being sued.

Check the statutes of limitations on credit card accounts.  If they have run out and someone calls you on an old account, do not discuss payment plans with them especially if you are in no position to pay them.  Discussing payment plans will restart the process of their chasing you all over town trying to collect from you.  Don't even ask for verification of the debt or any kind of proof -- protect yourself and educate yourself on the collections process.  Learn all you can so if you fall behind like I did, you are armed with how to handle collection agencies.  I am not saying ignore your debts, everyone at some point falls behind, but be honest and realistic in what you can and cannot do, and what you can and cannot afford.
