They call 10 times per day and I can't block them because it comes up on caller ID as "Private Number." Today when they called (I never answer anymore) they finally left a message on my answering machine with this number to contact them at. They say they are from the offices of GS Smith and that "legal claims have been filed against me and that I have 24 hours to respond or else." A Google search of the number reveals this is a company called Oracle Financial. I have been HOUNDED by them and another recovery agency (NRA:National Recovery Agency) for YEARS. The sad part is the person they are looking for is not me and while I once knew that person, they never lived here, I never cosigned anything, and I have absolutely NO idea where they are now. I have told them this in the past and they say they'll remove me from their list, but after a week or two, the calls start again. I work night shift and sleep days. I can't turn off the phone as I am in the medical profession and am "on call" during the day. I've changed my number twice but somehow they keep getting the new one. Years of harassment by these people is despairing.

If you are positive of the names of these companies, and have physical address' for them - mail them a certified letter, with proof of delivery, and return. Inform them, if legal in your State, that you will be recording all phone calls, and the 'legal claims' will be theirs. I would also like to mention that there is a high possibility you are being called by foreign 3rd world extortionists, faking their caller ID. For a debt collector to threaten you on the phone is illegal, but a foreign criminal could care less.
