This person called my called my number claiming to be from a Herbala Processing Company trying to solicit information. They even went so far as to give a fake file number. This is a debt collection scam so beware!
This a transcript of the voicemail left on my Google Voice account:
"Yes, Good afternoon (my name-took it off for privacy purposes) my name is Liz Jackson. I'm calling from National processing group's legal outsourcing Department, calling in regards to the matter that was placed here in our office back in January. At this point. (my name) you have never responded to any of our calls or mailings for over 90 days now. At this point we are getting ready to move forward. With the matter I'll be responsible for completing the verification report. Then a decision will be made on your behalf. If you do wish to have a voluntary say in what will be taking place, we need to hear back from you (my name.) Our toll free number here is (888) 284-7412. Please refer to file number ****** Thank you."
As soon as I start googling the company name and number, my mom calls me all frantic, wanting me to listen to a message that was left on her cell phone for me. Liz left this long message, stating I put my mother's name down as a contact and that's why she was called. LIE!!!!! This is a past due loan for Plain Green Loans and the application does ask for two references. It also has a check box if the person is allowed to discuss the account. I did not use my mother as a reference and I didn't give permission for the two people I gave as references to discuss the account. The loan is past due because I lost my job and Plain Green would not accept the payment arrangement I proposed to keep the account from going to collections.
I called the New York number that showed up on the caller ID and Williams Roger answered. I asked for Liz and he said she was on another line, but is the supervisor in that department and could help me. I gave him the file # and he asked if I was calling to settle the debt. I told him that the call was being recorded (and it really was) because I want to document that I called and told them to NEVER contact anyone except me about this debt. I also told him that Liz lied when she said I listed my mom as a contact and that I know they only got her information from the skip tracing process that debt collectors do. He was condescending and asked if I even knew what debt is being collected. I told him I didn't, nor did I care because I have no money and NPG can join the growing list of debtors that want money from me, but are unwilling to work with me. I said I tried to work with Plain Greens and they refused, so I certainly wasn't about to overpay some debt collector. Williams said he would note my account that I don't want anyone but me to be contacted and that they would proceed with "further collection activity." I wish him luck and he wished me a Merry Christmas-jerk!
