I called back after researching the FDCPA site. "Shawn Watters" answered with a "hello". Didn't even answer with a company name. (Red Flag #1). Second, mush-mouthed something about an action against me in my county.. But they'd like to take care of it today:(red flag #2) I asked that they send me certified mail all the information about this action. I was then pushed onto a supervisor who I made the same request of.. He said that I should be ashamed of myself using such a stall tactic. And that he's calm and not raising his voice. I again asked for it to be certified mailed to my address of record. When I asked what address they had he went back to how ashamed I should be stalling for more time (red flag #3) and strike 3.. Why I went so long is I was concerned about identity theft. Then It hit me that I received a call from a Nicole Kennedy from the same number 5 months ago. I requested the information by mail. It never arrived..through my entire call never once was it said I "owed" a debt. Never did they once say the purpose of the call was to collect a debt. . Only that they wanted to settle this "action" today. They never mentioned a company name, etc.. This is a debt collection scam that likely has purchased closed account Information.. By the way I've had the same cell number for 14 years... I've never received a call from a creditor saying I was past due.. Hence never from a debt collector either.
