This is definitely a scam, I also called the number back after googling the phone number and seeing the location as the middle of nowhere in New York. I called them back and said, you just called me and asked for money, and said you aren't really the irs are you? He proceeded to say then why did you call back? I hung on him.
I can confirm that 716-265-1414 calling you is an IRS scam. I called the number back to which they asked what number was called. When I told them it was the one I was calling from, they told me I had a lawsuit against me and a warrant out for my arrest. To which I asked who did they have a lawsuit against. They gave some name that obviously wasn't mine cause they're calling a work phone and a recycled number. I told them that my name was James Schmidt. They then attempted to convince me that the lawsuit was actually against me and confirmed the name they had was James Schmidt. Then I said "Oh good, because my name is actually Chad Newick" The next thing I hear is the *click* on the other side.
But wait! There's more! I called back again. I changed my voice to a little old lady voice and said that this was Sherry and that they had called my number and asked why there was some lawsuit against me. To which amazingly I got the same Indian out-source P.O.S. and he again tried to convince me that there was a lawsuit against me. When he confirmed my number he realized it was me again and decided to throw profane insults my way. I laughed and threw some back and said not to call me again. But, I'm half hoping that they'll call me back. This is fun!
