Legitimate debt collectors do not discuss alleged debts and/or legal matters with third parties. They are allowed to ascertain information pertaining to the debtor's location. Anything more than this is a violation of the FDCPA.
Got a call from this number, dialed it back, states Christine Prescott's office-I think she was a bill collector, but I do not have any outstanding debts
I got a call from her today too. She talked fast, said my name and rattled off a case number and 'final legal notification" and "call immediately", and sounded threatening. I am pretty sure that she must be a bill collector but if i owe anything it is from over 15 years ago! Don't call her back if she calls you! Debt collectors who do this are illegally trying to scare you into giving them money. It is not legal to leave a message like that on your phone as a "final legal notice". They don't even know that you actually heard the message or if the number was yours. if it was for real you would have gotten legal papers in the mail....not by phone. Block her number if you can or don't answer. She isn't nice. I change the name on my caller ID to "Scam" so that i remember that I checked on here. Don't stress over this call!
I just got a call from Kristen Prescott. She wanted a family members name and said it was about a civil lawsuit against them. I believe she is really a debt collector.
