A well spoken man said he was calling from the Police Association of NY, they were sending out a mailer since they were beginning their pledge drive. I told him I have never heard of this and he insisted it consisted of 45,000 NYC police officers and 40 other police associations. I told him I have never heard of this and not to call back. After searching around I found out this is completely bogus. Be careful, they are very polite and sound real. But since I come from NY I know the PBA does not solicit contributions over the phone
Called twice, I saw an unknown number, figured it was a telemarketer and answered with a phony
business name. They hung up. Police and Fire do not solicit over the phone - don't give them anything!!!
VOIP STREET caller ID -- hang up on answering machine. VOIP = voice over internet protocol, so no name. If soliciting for police, others are right -- not legitimate.
