This isn't a scam as the last person said - It's a debt collector that isn't following all the rules. This happens all the time. Nothing says "scam" about you owing a debt, refusing to pay it, and a collection company coming after you. Be an adult and pay your debt.
Yes, they should send you a notice giving you time to dispute, but since you seem to know everything about the law (so you owe lots of people money?) you should have known to ask her for the letter, and said you will respond to it once received.
Bottom line - This is a legitimate debt collection company based in Western NY, and they are collecting on a debt that someone says you owe.
Called me, didn't identify themselves, told me they are recording the call...I told them i don't give them permission to record the call...She said she has to end the call because they record all of their calls and she will just send me a letter...I asked if they are supposed to mail me a letter (required by law) to give me 30 days to dispute the debt before they start collecting on it...She said the letter was mailed today?? Can anyone say scam???
