The scam artists (probably overseas ones) have a new game:  Calling people at absurd hours in the morning.  This number called my DNC listed landline this morning at 0639 and it kept on ringing and ringing until it woke me up, despite wearing earplugs and the phone being in a completely separate room.  By the time I reached it, it finally stopped ringing.  Then I noticed that at 0223 hours, there had been a call from 636-524-4913.  Yesterday I had a call from 585-786-7726 at 0418 hours in the morning!  These guys have a lot of nerve calling at these ridiculous hours!  Needless to say, none of the numbers are valid as displayed on the caller ID.  It looks like I'll have to unplug my landline just to get any peace from these obnoxious butt-holes because that's three calls in the wee hours of the morning from three different (spoofed) phone numbers in two days.

Also getting middle-of-the-night and early morning calls from this and similar numbers (in the same prefix range)... 1:33 a.m., 12:39 a.m., 7:00 a.m. (all illegal times to call). "No Early Morning or Late Night Calls:
A debt collector may not call you before 8am or after 9pm (in your time zone) unless you ask them to call you at a different time." These are probably debt collection agencies who have not been able to get hold of you, even if the debt belongs to someone else (we've received dozens of calls for other people who had our phone number before we signed up with a new cable TV/phone/Internet company).  Have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission by calling 877-382-4357. You can also go online to ftc.gov, and file a report.  Be sure to keep a complete record of the company name and # that called (or just the number, if no company name); the date of the call and the time of the call.  Your best solution -- to get undisturbed sleep -- is to invest $70 dollars in a Panasonic wireless phone (at your local wholesale club... or whoever has the best deal.  You can instantly BLOCK any unwanted calls (even from scam artists)... even as the phone rings.  I now keep the phone right by my pillow.  If I get a late night, long-distance call that I know is not a family number/emergency, I immediately hit the Panasonic "Call Block" button on my handset, push the "YES" button on the handset screen and -- instantly -- the phone stops ringing and that number is blocked!  From that point on, if that number calls back... it will only ring once and the screen will read "Call Blocked" (letting you know your "block" worked)... and you can just go on sleeping -- or, during the day, go about your business.  Yes... the scammers can still call back on a different number... but, you can block that one, too... up to 250 or more numbers.  Eventually, many scammers give up.  The Feds / Congress truly needs to enact better laws to outsmart the robo-callers.  You can also write your congressman... and join the fight, like we did, with Consumer Report.  Google Consumer Report "fight against robo-calls" and see what comes up>
