Arrived home after a 4 day trip to find two voice mail messages from a Steve Martin. His first message was something on the order of us helping him to help us. The second call was more threatening. It was so obviously a scam, we didn't pay much attention to the wording of the calls.
3 calls from this number with different caller Steve Martin with South African accent? "unknown" and "Olean NY" left same message as above. I must admit They called my 97 year old mother's phone number she doesn't know anyone in the 716 area code.
I've received 3 calls today from 805-552-7750, Steve Martin, US Treasury. Same BS as listed above, told to call 716-543-7015.
So I used a blocked number & called back. Guy with Indian/Pakistan accent, gave some American name & his government number. I laughed and said I had a government number too and they were nothing but scammers preying on innocent people.
THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CALL YOU.....THEY SEND CERTIFIED LETTERS IF THEY WANT TO CONTACT YOU !!
Please don't fall for this scam.
Had two messages from Steve Martin at 716-543-7015. Something about US Treasury and failure to return the call would be a second violation. Returned call rang twice then nothing. Checked internet for scams and found this page so I am reporting it.
