Called my cell phone and said his name was Anthony Reyes and says he was given this number, there was an accident in my family. I hung up and didn't let him finish. Next a few minutes later he called my husband's cell. He didn't answer. In both calls said number unavailable. Fishy! Our #'s are only one digit apart.
Here's what you do the next time these horse-fellators call. Lower your voice to an almost conspiratorial tone and say, "Y'know, you could be doing me a huge favor." The confused scammer will ask why.
You say "Well, I never really liked my brother anyway; he was always bumming money and eating my food, he once totaled my car, and he might even be screwing my wife! Tell you what. I've got a half million dollar insurance policy on him. If you could just go ahead and pull the trigger, I'll send you a generous cut of the money. But you have to send me his (body part of your choice- ear, finger, wiener) as proof that he's dead. Capisce?"
I just received the same phone call from the person. He said his name was Anthony Reyes and that he had my brother at his friends house. He stated that my brother had just got into a serious car accident and he took him to his friends house and that he is losing a lot of blood and wants to know what my brothers name is to make sure he has the right guy, supposedly my "brother" had given this guy my number. I insisted for the guy to tell me my brothers name because I was not going to tell him, he said Jonathan, which is not my brothers name. He stated that he is from buffalo but just moved to Long Island so he could not tell me his location, I hung up with him and immediately called my brother, who is thankfully home safe and sound. How did this person even get my number?! Can they now hack into my phone and get my information?
