look out for "documents" to be delivered to you. Ignore any and all such calls that come from the 716 area code, it's been going on for a few years and they're always looking for the next person to swindle money from.
Called before 8am and left a message that could barely be understood. Was looking for somebody that doesn't live at my house. I think a bill collector? I was sound asleep and at 7:50am the phone rings. Isn't that even against the law? I thought bill collectors could only call from 8:00am - 9:00pm?

Your state law would override federal, but it's very unlikely to grant third party collectors *more* than thirteen calling hours daily. Usually the "mini FDCPA" mirrors federal.
