My Fiance received a call from this number and they told him he owed a payday advance and they had all of his personal info.. I called them back when I got home because I am familiar with collections, and I spoke to 3 people. All 3 hung up on me when I stated I was contacting an attorney regarding these calls. One even said they will be suing my fiance and he can thank me for that! This is a joke! I filed a report with the BBB of New York!
My parents received a message stating I was a person of interest from this number. I don't recognize it and have not received a call from them. I don't know who it is, but definitely do not appreciate the fact that they would contact my parents and not me.
I just rec'd call on my work extension. I am a person of interest and matters will be handled without my notice. It is a recorded message and gives no other information. This is ridiculous and very annoying and quite possibly illegal as it sounds like a threat to me. Caller ID is Vision something or other.
Why do these people think they can extort money from people with this tactic. If I owe something, send me an old fashioned statement via snail mail or email and I will gladly pay it if it is legit. I did a bankruptcy back in early 2009 and everyone I owed was given a chance to show up at the hearing and file a claim on what I owed them. Of course, not a one showed up and my debts were discharged and I am slowly trying to reestablish credit.
I got a message from this number and returned the call. The person told me about a supposed payday debt that I owed. They had personal information about me, such as my social security number. I asked the person to send me the information on the supposed debt by mail. When I said that the person said "Ok, have a good day" and hung up quickly.
This is obviously a scam. I've been contacted by other scams like this before. Usually they have strong indian accents, but these people all had very good american accents.
