IRS Scam - I got a call from this number 716.902.6317. The person claimed to be David Williams with the IRS, Badge # 171671. He told me that there was an arrest warrant out on me for tax fraud. When I tried to respond, he said that I wasn't being cooperative so he would be calling the local Police to come arrest me as soon as they could get to my house. When I tried to call him back, I got someone in India saying his name was David Williams. When I tried to get more information as to what I was accused of, he hung up. Have called multiple times since, and just get a fast busy.
The IRS never calls or emails anyone - NEVER. They send letters via US Mail. Don't fall for this!!
got a call from 716-902-6317 - a voice that sounded almost mechanical - femaie - stated they were "Officer Jason Miller" and if my attorney or I did not answer it, they said that "bad things will unfold" - it was the strangest call...what was yours?

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Sounded like automated recording of a woman with accent. Identified herslef as Officer Jason Miller and that she is expecting a call back from my attorney or "good luck as bad things would unfold".
You would think that after all these years, these scammers could come up with something more original than: "Good luck as things would unfold". And, their accents are a dead giveaway.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
