There IS a way to stop the crap if enough folks join in... This was "Amber" from "Insurance Network" making an illegal cold-call in violation of the National Do-Not-Call Registry. I strung her along for a while, giving bogus info. She then passed me to an Allstate Insurance broker in Oakmont, PA. I had him work me up a quote based on completely fictitious info, then notified him that he was being PUNKED because his company is using a third-party aggregator ("Amber"...) to get sales leads (which he admitted to be true...). I pointed out that there are lots of folks getting frustrated at getting cold-calls even though they are on the NDNCR, and that even though the law itself has no teeth, us call-receivers DO... I also let him know that I wouldn't do business with Allstate Insurance - since they are closely working with blatant law-breakers, how could I trust them in the operation of other aspects of their business...
