Received an automated message from some BS payday loan collections (I never had a payday loan) stating that I needed to call them immediately. Didn't leave a company name and did not ask for anyone by name. The callback number however was 405-896-7992. This was obviously a spoofed number.
Got a call on my cell phone, which is a pay-as-you-go Tracfone. Wanted me to participate in a 10-minute public opinion survey. I said no, thanks and have a nice day, then hung up.
Whether he was speaking the truth, or not, who knows. He didn't have a chance to ask my name or anything else.
I just got a call claiming a 10-20 minute questionare from NBC/New York Times. Only asked me what state I lived on and if I had a land line then hung up. Very strange.
This is a legitimate company. I blocked my number and called this number back. It went to a recording which referred me to the company website. They also have a do not call list you can add your number to. www.venturedata.com.
