Call from 718-247-4468 claiming a payday loan was taken, not paid back and a lawsuite was being filed. They asked if I wanted to pay it off or be sued. I responded that I would have to research it (KNOWING IT WAS A SCAM). Upon calling back, I was able to begin leaving a message, but waas cut short. Another call stated their mailbox was full. The number is identified as a landline from NY (Queens)... I will be reporting this to the Attorney General of my state and NY. Online, I have found other complaints of different scams from this number... Why is this being allowed to continue?
I just received a call from them. And they kept telling me a company and I asked them what is the name of the company and they waited for about 5 seconds (sound like looking up a name) and then told me. I told them they need to send me something in black and white and I said if you have my name you should have my address. They sat on the phone for about 1 minute and I said hello and then they hung up. I could barely understand their accent as well. Very HEAVY accent. I hope someone catches them and throw them behind BARS!!!!
So, this lady just called me and she claimed that she was from the Federal Office of Financial Crimes or some non-sense like that. She keeps calling and asking me to verify my information, which I refuse to do. She wanted to connect me to her "senior" who had information from an attorney about a law-suit.... I told her to mail me the info if it was legit, to which she said she couldn't b/c it was against the law. I let her know that it was a Saturday morning and if she was a fed, she wouldn't be calling me on a Saturday. After I hung up, she called like 6 more times! I think she got the point when I answered the phone and screamed at the top of my lungs and then called her back like 3 times and did the same thing!
I got a call from this number telling me a friend was under investigation and the caller claimed to be a police officer. I knew it was a scam, because my friend and I have never been out of the state in 5 years. They claim that I was used as a reference and needed to verify information of someone else. So I told them "if there was any criminal activity going on the send a summons so that I my have documentation on the investigation. The guy on the phone did not understand what I was talking about, so I told him to get off my phone. I really believe that they're desperate for money and are trying to scare people into identity theft. please if you get a call from this number do not give any info about you or your peers.
Received a call from "Officer John White" claiming to be from the United Financial Crime Dept. telling me that me and my residential address was under investigation and if they did not hear from me they will "drag" me to the courthouse and will have to face some legal consequences. He ended conversation with "have a blessed day." I have made a complaint with the Florida Attorney General and with the FTC. The FTC told me they are doing this alot.
