Just received a call from this number. Caller ID: NYC, College of. Was curious about that caller ID, so I answered the phone. The non-US accent of the man on the other end was so thick I almost didn't understand what he was saying. He claimed to be with "Microsoft tech." I didn't let him get further with his spiel. In no uncertain terms I told him to "cut it out, take our number of his calling list, and stop his scam." Then I hung up.
Male w/ heavy Indian/Pakistani accent claimed to work for Microsoft and got a notice that my PC was infected. He said he was in San Diego, CA (after some prying on my part). Knowing it was a scam, I asked him to come to my house and fix it. I gave him the address of the local FBI office. A few seconds later, we were disconnected; by what sounded like someone monitoring the call.
I love these calls. Tells me my Windows are corrupted. I say, "You clean my windows? Wonderful...I live on the second floor, and my windows are certainly dirty, so bring a tall ladder so you can reach them." Usually before I finish their long gone.
