Concerned USA Citizen
Just got a call from the Heavy Indian accent person - stating they are with the Queens County Sherrif office and something about tax fraud.  So like a New Yorker I laid it into him.  I reverse lookup the number and it was 718-298-7550 listed as the switchboard of the Queens County Sherrif office ( maybe its the cleaner there).   I asked for his name ( Jack Rogers) sounds like a great name for an indian guy and badge # (4927) sounds fake.  I asked who was the main Sherrif and Deputy Sherrif that I wanted to speak with them to clarify. Why does a local enforcement agency has jurisdiction over the IRS - that should roll up to the Federal Marshall at the Federal level and not the local level.

He hung up...

Pissed Off New Yorker
Thanks for clearing this up for me!  I got this call today on my voicemail and it pissed me off for hours because I was at work and couldn't call back or find out what was going on.  I appreciate your explaining what it was - I too, was like, why does this guy named James Rogers have a heavy Indian accent lol  Made no sense but it annoyed me all day nonetheless.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Got a call from 718-298-7550 claiming to be from Queens County sheriffs office, the person gave the Name : Jack Rogers & badge 4927.
The guy had an indian accent and threatened to arrest me if i don't call back Mr Steven White @  202-754-8205 to discuss about a federal case filed by IRS.  I looked up the 718 number and it is actually the Queens county sheriff's office.

I read that its a scam from the previous posts but how are these scammers be able to make that call from a government agency's number?
