Got a call stating they were from Microsoft and that my computer may have been damaged by hackers. After leading me through a series of steps to "correct" the matter he said it was "severe", about to crash, and it would cost $84.95 to correct. Unfortunately, I allowed him to gain remote access to my computer and entered my debit card info. before realizing it was a scam. I immediately called Microsoft and my bank--so hopefully my bank account wont be drained.
Also run virus & malware scans on your computer. You never know what spyware they have downloaded. Also keep an eye on your banking information and contact list (emails, etc.) of that was kept on the unit.
had a call where caller ID showed Arch Auto Inc and the number (322-2200) was missing an area code. The caller said he was calling about my computer; but he hung up when I said I didn't understand because I subscribe to a computer tech support firm with a different name.
