I received the same message and proceeded to call the ri attorney general and report the phone number. Eric Fluster told me if i hung up my wife would be arrested within 45 minutes by the local sherriff. this is when i thought scam because my wife and i file joint taxes and have our return guaranteed. This guy told me my autos would be seized....bank account frozen...license frozen....house seized...pay garnished. He then tried to negotiate the amount....cruds in this world!
Got the same call on my answer machine. Eric Foster from the IRS. Tried to call the number back but not in service. Heavy accent. Hope he enjoyed talking to a machine!
Received message, when I called back, he said I owed the IRS, and they had me down for tax evasion. That I would be arrested, my DL would be suspended, my SSN would be black marked. And if I didn't pay they would send me to jail and that no one would be able to bail me out. He told me to go to a particular store to purchase Vanilla Reload Network cards. When they were purchased, I had to go to another location with the gift cards so they could be swiped and sent for payment. The same guy called back this morning from a different #, with the same BS. I hung up on him.
I picked up the phone and there was a recording of an Indian guy saying he was "officer something" from the "IRS", that I had to call back or be in trouble and that he wishes me good luck if I don't LOL LOL LOL. I'm sorry I find it very funny. I'm a CPA and know that the IRS won't do this. But anyway, you can be so silly to expect people to believe this???
