Called around 5:00pm EST and spewed some technical BS that my computer was infected and it took over my PC and something about the motherboard getting infested as well. I have been in tech for more years than I can count and new it was BS. I asked him what OS I was running and he said some blah blah about security reasons. Then he said windows and I said oh yeah what version of windows and of course the answer was wrong. I told him it was wrong and started to go into a tirade but he hung up quick. I have no tolerance for that BS. MY only fear is that someone with no technical experience would fall for that.
Just got a call from a man with foreign accent (probably Indian) saying he was calling from "Windows" about my computer. That my computer was being attacked by hackers. I asked him the name of his company. He said "Windows". I told him the name of his company was not Windows, what is the name of his company? He said "Gates For Help" (or something like that). I told him I was on the Do Not Call list and I was going to report him. He hung up.
I received a call from this number as well stating he was from Micro soft, We also have apple. The caller ID name was Ponce De Leone. Lol.. I told him I know this is a scam and to not call again, he hung up
