I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes. Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Called them back and told he I was returning his call and I'm from the Federal Governemt. And he hung up. Now when I call, it just hangs up.
Those dam scammers!!!!! I wish there was a way to keep these clowns from calling and harassing everyone. I hope no one is falling prey to this fools.
Call block from 800# is a joke because they still call you and now they call from different area codes with all these apps to disguise their numbers. I must have over a hundred block numbers on my phone. This is rediculous!!! And I want them to stop calling my phone.
A woman with a very thick accent who identify herself as Lisa Davis called saying that I have pending legal action against me and that I had to return her call as soon as possible. She said delay could result in "additional legal action". This is complete FRAUD. I have no legal troubles or debts. This has to be a scam.
Caller LM on my cell-phone (used only for emergency calls or family members). Claimed to be "Ahdom" (Adam?) from the Department of Legal Affairs. Very heavy middle-Eastern accent rending 2/3 of the message incomprehensible although "enforcement action" came thru loud and clear as did "pending legal action". Whoever the caller was pretending to be (IRS or collection agency) was unclear due to the heavy accent and mangling English pronunciation.
AMY, please stop calling people with this fraudulent request that you are calling in regards to legal actions.
This number used for Amy is (718) 551-3718. Amy please Note: Legal Affairs would send out a letter of request to respond via mail or phone with a government stamp and number, you idiot!!!
