As people have said before, the IRS or the Treasury Department do not contact anyone by phone, Internet, text or fax. That's the first dumb [***] move. If you did owe money to the IRS, the IRS will contact you by mail, not the Treasury Department. I have cut down on the calls by telling them I can't understand what they are saying. They start again and again I tell them I can't understand a word they are saying, would you please do someone on the line that speaks English? Most of the time they hang up. Once in a while they will still try talking to me, so I break in and tell them, look, if you don't have anyone that can speak English call me back when you get someone I can understand. That means someone that speaks English. Then I hang up or I tell them, If you are from the U.S. Treasury surely you have people that speak English. I'm sorry where did you say you are located.
