I received a call from 718-553-9595 Jamaica NY today and in the past. This number is a non working number , I called it back message said "the number you have reached is out of service". The caller does not leave any message when they call definitely a spam Robo Call. This is just one of many numbers that are used with NY area codes that usually call and don"t leave any message. One way to tell that the call is spam is if you have private call or anonymous calls blocked and the call goes through without showing a persons name or company name like in this case it list the borough of Jamaica in Queens NY which is associated with the 718 area code . This is how they get the call through without providing a real phone number also the number they use is fake.
They called me today and said they were calling from Con Edison and I was eligible for reduced rates. If I was not interested press 3 if I was press 1. I was curious, so I pressed 1 and the message said an agent will be with me shortly and that I should get my Con Edison bill out. So as I was waiting I began reading the bill and they advised that there are people who are trying to get information from you and to disregard the calls. So I hung up and decided I would call back the number to see who or what it really was. Well I was unable to disconnect the call, I would hang up and I would still be on hold. Fortunately I was using my land line so I unplugged the phone, that was only way to disconnect. When I dialed the number back I got a recording saying this number was not in service at this time. This is a new one
Technically, Jamaica is a *neighborhood* in the *borough* of Queens...
At any rate, I got one, too. I WISH I could get a live person on the phone. It would be a lot of fun to keep them on the line for half an hour before telling them that, since my electricity is included in my co-op's maintenance charge, I haven't had a Con Edison account in over two years.
