So a gentleman with a thick middle eastern accent calls, and begins to tell me he's a law enforcement official with the department of law and investigation. OK... I identify myself as an officer as well, ad I really am a cop. I ask him what this is about. He tells me I owe $569.00, and that I need to pay this amount right away. OK.. I owe nobody a cent. All my bills, with the exception of my mortgage and utilities are all paid up. And since I use a debit card to purchase things, I have no credit card debt. So I ask him whom I owe the debt to. He said he didn't have that information. Hmmm.... Ok, so I ask him for more identification. He gives me his "badge" number. I then ask to speak to his immediate supervisor. So another gentleman gets on the phone, says his name is Mike O'Brien. With his accent? Yeah... right. Bottom line, it's a scam, I owe nobody any money, it's laughable, at best. Don't fall for it, and don't pay them a penny. #1, they aren't in the 718 area code, they're somewhere in the middle east using a VOIP phone with a forwarded area code.
I received a call and spoke with a "Shazzie". She was trying to collect on an OLD credit card balance that was from 1996-2000 that originated from First USA. She wanted to make some payment arrangements on the $13,000.00 balance. I KNOW that over half of that is fees. I've never had a credit card limit that high. I told her that there wasn't "a snowball's chance" I'd be able to address this. She said she'd report back to them.
I just spoke to a woman named Lisa Isador who said I had an account and asked me for my address and last 4 of my social I said im not verifying anything with you people. It was some company from Texas for some time of Wells Fargo CC. Said we mailed it out on the 10th of October 2016 and I should check my mail. I told her I am finding out you are a scam and will be reported. They called me at work. The number they called from is 718-569-5741!!
