I previously heard of this IRS scam. Today I received a cell call. Do these scammers use an auto-dailer and leave this odd computer generated message? I would hope the oddness of the message and voice will be an alert to those would consider it legit.
I got a call from the 718-713-8428 and the message was from Officer Eric Foster. Very pronounced accent...UK or S. Africa english from the usage of the language. I called the # back and got a Ricky Richards. I told them that I was recording the conversation and asked for Foster and his ID #'s. He became very made and started cussing me out using english inflections like "bloody hell" and others. I told him I was turning him over to the IRS and FBI and they would have the tape with his voice. I also told him that he was going to have a really bad time and then hung up. I reported the incident on the TIGTA website for the US Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. That is where you should go to report your incidents. Also, on a side note... The IRS will NEVER contact you by phone...you will always get official documents via US Mail. If you ever receive a call like this have fun with them. They really get heated and start calling you all kinds of things. I loved it. :) The website to report it is http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/
