They may be registered in India but they are New York area codes and are patched in NY.

I just got the same thing, it seems like some kind of mass phishing scam text.  I guess it's worth it to the criminals if they can find just one idiot that buys into it, but it sure is annoying.

Received a text message from 917-488-3724 to call 718-715-1670.

Please call 718-7151670

I called the number from a landline just to test.  
Robo-response:  "Hello.  Thank you for calling SunTrust Bank.  We regret to inform you that your debit card has been locked.  To reactivate your card please press 1 now.  To leave, please press 2".

Definitely some sort of SCAM.  I have never used SunTrust Bank.

Is everyone's phone with Verizon? If so we need to report it to Verizon so people won't get charged for the texts or calls.

`I just got the same thing a few minutes ago on my cell #.  No way that I will call.
